Writing Enrichment Workshop

for 4th, 5th & 6th Graders

“Now I am great at writing!”

– Grant L.

“My son is confident in his writing now!” – Ben A.

Imagine knowing what you want to say and envisioning how it will all be organized on paper before picking up a pen. Wouldn’t that make writing easier?

Langsford’s Writing Workshop is the answer! We have created a Writer’s Road Map™ that will help kids become better writers. We will work on getting ideas down on paper in a clear and organized way. Activities include writing effective sentences and paragraphs, planning papers and developing a “writer’s voice.”

Writing doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task.

Nor does it have to be boring or sound like this:

“There are many places to go on vacation. One place is Arizona. We chose Arizona and New Mexico because my dad got a chance to go to a training center there. We had fun and this will show why it is a good place to visit.”

Writing can be fun! Here is a revision using our Writer’s Road Map™:

“I never wanted to go on this trip. It was going to be 115 degrees and dry as a desert. It was, in fact, a desert. I found myself in Taos, New Mexico. It was 105 and dry, and so was I. I felt horrible. I was dizzy, seeing stars, and had a bad headache. Wherever I looked there were pickup trucks. Men, women, children, dogs, cats …everyone was driving pickup trucks.”

One student said, “Once I had a plan, the paper practically wrote itself!”
